Crime Stoppers of Eddy County and the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office are requesting your assistance in solving a larceny which occurred on Thursday, June 25, 2020.
On the evening of Thursday, June 25 2020 a deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 5100 block of South Thomason Road southeast of Carlsbad in reference to a package stolen from a mailbox. After FedEx delivered the package in the mailbox, the victim observed a maroon single cab Toyota pickup truck stopped by the mailbox. The pickup truck then fled the scene. The victim further described the vehicle as an older model maroon single cab Toyota pickup truck with faded paint and a loud exhaust.
When the victim went to check the mailbox, they discovered that someone had gone through the mailbox and the package was missing. The package contained an IPhone cell phone with an approximate value of $1000.00.

On April 9, 2020, officers with the Carlsbad Police Department responded to a report of a commercial burglary that took place sometime between 3:00 am and 6:00 am at Fastenal, located at 413 S. Canal, Carlsbad, NM. The suspect(s) forced entry through the back door of the business and took numerous items totaling more than $3,000. Artesia Hospital - male individual who had been shot
June 02, 2020

Sheriff Mark A. Cage reports that on June 2, 2020 at approximately 0410 hours deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Artesia General Hospital in reference to a male individual who had been shot. Upon arrival deputies were advised that a male individual, later identified as twenty eight year old Alonso Valdez of Artesia New Mexico was deceased.
Subsequent investigation determined that the location the shooting occurred at was 14 Crystal Drive in Artesia New Mexico. Deputies and Detectives responded to that address and a homicide investigation began. Several search warrants and interviews were conducted during the course of this investigation.

On the morning of April 22nd at about 3:20 am an unknown suspect(s) entered the Artesia Public Schools Maintenance Yard. The suspect(s) burglarized a storage building and several vehicles. They also vandalized vehicles with spray paint. The suspect(s) then stole a 2008 Chevrolet single cab work truck with ladder rack, utility body and government license plates. Along with the truck numerous tools, wheelbarrow, hand dolly and push spreader were taken.

Crimestoppers of Eddy County is requesting your assistance in solving an Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle incident that occurred in Eddy County on March 28, 2020.

On March 28, 2020 Deputies were dispatched to an oil field location near Red Road in reference to a stolen 20 foot Lamar utility trash trailer with blue porta potties. The trailer had stickers and a sign with the company name and logo on it depicting “One Nation Rental”. The trailer is bearing New Mexico License Plate 88585TRK. The location from which the trailer was stolen is described as an oilfield location off of Red Road about one mile to the south of Mills Ranch Road. The estimated value of these theft is approximately $ 6,200.00 dollars.

The incident is still being investigated by the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division. Any information that leads to the arrest(s) of the individuals involved in this incident could be awarded up to $1,000.00 dollars.

On March 27th at 4:10 am three suspects entered the Allsup’s convenience store at the intersection of 13th St and Hermosa Ave. Two of the subjects were wearing white hoodies and a third was wearing a black hoodie. One suspect was armed with a black handgun and the second was armed with a small silver handgun. The suspects were also wearing surgical style masks.

During the robbery one suspect fired a round at the clerk. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

On March 19, 2020 deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Bluestem Road and Grubbs Road in reference to a report of a stolen trailer. The trailer was reported stolen from a remote oilfield location in that area sometime between March 18, 2020 and March 19, 2020. The stolen trailer is described as a black 18-foot Lamar trailer bearing New Mexico License Plate 92955TRK. The trailer contains (2) two orange Ridgid toolboxes that were located on the trailer. The value of these thefts is approximately $6,600.00.

On 1-24-20, officers with the Carlsbad Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Rent-A-Center located at 217 N. Canal. Employees reported a male subject entered the store wearing all black consisting of a black hoodie, black pants, and a mask with the hooded part of the sweatshirt over his head cinched up tight over his mouth. Once inside, the suspect brandished a handgun and demanded money. The suspect was then able to obtain a sum of money from the cash register before fleeing Southbound on foot. The suspect is believed to be between 5’ 3” and 5’ 6”with an average build. Video footage appears to show the sweatshirt the suspect is wearing to have “NIKE” across the front of it. Several unknown subjects arrived in white crew cab pick-up and approached the subject who was sitting in his vehicle. After a conversation with the victim a male described as Hispanic male with tattoos on his head and neck with a shaved head fired multiple rounds into the truck striking the victim. The subjects then fled on foot and in the white pick-up.

Crimestoppers of Eddy County is requesting your assistance in solving a Homicide incident that occurred in Eddy County on September 7, 2019.

On September 7, 2019 at approximately 2140 hours deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an unnamed dirt road off County Road 408 (Dark Canyon Road) in reference to a female individual who was unconscious and not breathing. Upon arrival to the scene deputies and emergency medical professionals determined that the female individual, later identified as twenty six year old Carlie L. Overturff of Carlsbad New Mexico was deceased. Further investigation determined that Ms. Overturff had sustained a gunshot wound to her person. Detectives with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office were contacted and arrived on scene to investigate this incident. ?

The incident is still being investigated by the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division. Any information that leads to the arrest(s) of the individuals involved in this incident could be awarded up to $4,000.00 dollars

On 7-17-19, John contacted the Carlsbad Police Department in regards to fraudulent use of his debit card. John advised officers that someone had attempted to make unauthorized withdrawals from an ATM on 7-13-19. John advised police personnel that someone did use his debit card to make a purchase at Harbor Freight to purchase one 800W power inverter, one spotting scope, and one 100W solar panel. Other charges were also made at Sutherlands totaling in the amount of $1,599.17 in fraudulent charges.

Video footage was obtained from the ATM in which a thin fair-skinned male on a green bike with black mag wheels appeared at the ATM. The male is wearing a black hat with the letter “M” on it and a black backpack. The male attempts to withdraw money from the ATM but he is unsuccessful before leaving the area. See the attached pictures.

On 9-1-19, Officers of the Carlsbad Police Department received a report of an armed robbery. Victims Mary and Curtis Woody advised a male friend came over to visit when shortly thereafter another male, masked and armed, robbed the Woody’s of their wallets, debit cards, and personal identification cards.

Video footage was obtained from the area in which two males were seen entering a hotel room one of which was masked and armed; see the attached screenshots and video footage.
